Direct cash cattle markets are quiet with business apparently wrapped up for the week. The bulk of the business was done Wednesday, with moderate volume and firm to higher prices. Some clean-up activity was reported Thursday. It looks like buyers were more interested in a long Christmas weekend than in waiting for the cattle on feed numbers.
Boxed beef at midday was higher with light movement. Choice was up $.98 at $199.10 and Select was $.97 higher at $187.84.
