A Wisconsin cheese company leader is one of many who spoke out in favor of completing a modernized NAFTA agreement. Jeffrey Swager with Sartori Cheese says the uncertainty of NAFTA’s future and the European Union’s trade agreement with Canada are already impacting the market. He says, “The Europeans got their agreement first. We need to catch up and get the supply lines back open to Canada on the dairy side.”
Swager says Sartori Cheese has been actively exporting for eight years sending products to 50 countries, but Mexico and Canada are their number one and two destinations.
