The National Farmers Union is urging lawmakers to vote against the compromise tax reform plan saying it puts future funding of farm programs at risk and entitlement programs at risk in 2018. NFU President Roger Johnson says previous tax reforms have had the goal of being budget neutral, but this one would increase the national deficit. And, he says the conferenced bill cuts “the important carry back provision that helps farmers recoup net operating losses.” He says the “partisan and hurried nature” of the bill has resulted in a plan that is unsustainable.
