More than 70 ag groups have sent a letter to congressional leaders asking for an increase in the Ag budget for the 2018 Agriculture Appropriations Bill.
Paul Wolfe, a senior policy specialist with the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, says they’re asking Congress to increase the discretionary budget cap for domestic programs and provide agriculture appropriations with a 5 percent increase.
“We don’t think it’s out of the question to ask for this and it could have a huge impact on the ability to fund conservation programs and to fund research,” he says.
