An ag equipment sales representative with Indiana-based MacAllister Equipment says lower commodity prices are contributing to the rise in used ag equipment sales.
Ryan Basham says he anticipates the market for used equipment to remain strong through 2019.
“We’re selling a lot of used combines and a lot of used tractors and sprayers,” he says. “Planters haven’t really taken off too much yet but for the most part good used equipment is the hot ticket right now.”
He tells Brownfield farmers shouldn’t expect a decrease in prices on new equipment anytime soon…
“Manufacturers are holding their margins and until they feel some pain, they’re not coming down on price,” he says.
