An ag coalition led by the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) has filed a motion to try and stop the State of California from requiring the labeling of products that might contain the herbicide glyphosate.
The groups are seeking a preliminary injunction on the Proposition 65 regulation, saying it will cause permanent harm to the agriculture economy, “impacting American farmers and consumers.”
Gordon Stoner, the president of the Wheat Growers group, says a LOT of wheat farmers use glyphosate “and requiring misleading and false label will fundamentally change the way farming is done in America.”
Other groups involved include the Agribusiness Association of Iowa, Associated Industries of Missouri, Iowa Soybean Association, Missouri Farm Bureau, South Dakota Agribusiness Association, and National Corn Growers Association.
