A vegetable industry leader says safe food is the number one goal for all sized farms.
Dave Smith has served as the Executive Director of the Michigan Vegetable Council for nearly 20 years. In that time, he tells Brownfield farms have started to shift toward two camps. “There’s still a lot of large scale production on both the fruit and vegetable side, but I’d say there’s been some growth at the other end of it too, kind of the smaller niche side that finds a local market.”
Smith says no matter the farm size, food safety has been and will continue to be a top priority.
