The long-running political duke out between ethanol makers, the petroleum industry and those who rely on corn as a primary ingredient in their products over whether the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) needs to be protected or killed may be heading for a final showdown in 2018. This week, a meeting between President Trump and administration honchos with a stake in the future of the RFS and oil state Senators, led by Sen. Ted Cruz (R, TX), ended with Trump telling the assembled lawmakers and bureaucrats to work out a “win-win” solution to the RFS tug of war.
