A livestock nutritionist says grazing corn stalks after harvest is a cost-effective way for may cattle producers to feed their livestock.
Kevin Glaubius with BioZyme Incorporated says cattle prices have dropped recently and grazing corn stalks can help producers reduce input costs. “You’re looking at about $.79 a day,” he says. “That’s roughly a 45 percent savings. What it amounts to on a monthly basis, for a producer is about $29 a head – or $1 per day per cow.
