Iowa U.S. Senator Joni Ernst is one of a half dozen Republican senators who met with President Trump Tuesday to tell him how important NAFTA is to agriculture trade. Also in the meeting, Chief trade negotiator Robert Lighthizer. Trump has stated publicly that he will consider withdrawing from NAFTA if renegotiations that he initiated don’t go well for the United States. Ernst told them any changes to NAFTA should not negatively impact crop and livestock producers.
