The Ranking Member the Senate Ag Committee says the Senate’s tax bill is a lost opportunity for real tax reform.
Debbie Stabenow of Michigan says she voted no on the republican bill because it raises taxes on middle-class families, seniors and farmers. She says the tax system needs to be simpler, close loopholes, and do a better job of supporting small businesses and farmers.
Chairman Pat Roberts of Kansas voted in favor of the measure and says the Senate bill keeps the ag tax provisions and creates a much more pro-growth tax system, lowering farmers’ tax burden and simplifying the tax provisions relating to the agricultural sector.
