Texas Senator Ted Cruz will meet with President Trump and several Cabinet members this week to discuss the administration’s biofuels policy.
The Senator has been trying to secure the meeting since late October and in the process, has been blocking the nomination of Bill Northey to be the USDA’s undersecretary for farm programs.
Senate Ag Chairman Pat Roberts says Cruz’s hold has had nothing to do with Northey. “These are holds where people who put the holds on think they have some degree of influence to try and accomplish what they want,” he says.
