At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures plunged lower on Friday on technical liquidation as the trade is concerned about heavy supplies. This week’s mostly lower move in wholesale value also pressured prices and doubts linger about next week’s cash trade being able to sustain this week’s rally. December live cattle closed $2.67 lower at $117.22 and February live cattle closed $3.00 lower at $121.97. January feeder cattle closed $3.85 lower at $150.32 and March feeder cattle closed $4.25 lower at $148.02.
