The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) is disappointed the EPA did not increase 2018 renewable volume obligations (rvo) for biomass-based diesel under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
NBB chief operating officer Doug Whitehead says keeping the biodiesel requirement at 2.1 billion gallons discourages industry expansion.
“Our message has been if we our held flat with no incremental increase, we would be disappointed. It sends a signal to this industry that we can’t put steel in the ground and expand jobs.”
The advanced biofuels level of 4.29 billion gallons effectively cuts biodiesel demand in 2018 by 67 million gallons.
