A central Indiana farmer says he is closing the book on harvest this year and looking ahead to what he’ll do differently next growing season.
Mike Beard says corn yields were better than he expected, but soybean yields were disappointing.
“I’m going to take some blame for that mainly because I’m not well versed in cover crops and planting into cover crops,” he says. “It certainly was a learning experience.”
He tells Brownfield this was the first year they expanded cover crops to more than half of his soybean acreage.
