The supply build-up in the U.S. cattle herd is matched by its protein competitors and will result in tightening profits for cattle producers. CattleFax analyst Randy Blach says he expects the U.S. cow herd to be up another 700,000 to 800,000 head on January first.
“The trend of increasing supply, more numbers to harvest, more production, not only of beef, but also of pork and poultry, there’s going to be a lot of protein on the market,” said Blach, in an interview provided by the American Angus Association.
