Two former Michigan lawmakers will take over as state directors for USDA’s Farm Service and Rural Development Agencies.
Joel Johnson will lead Michigan’s Farm Service Agency. He tells Brownfield with current commodity prices, he expects to see more farmers enroll in FSA programs next year. “We’re right at a stage where we’re going to be, very soon, enrolling with commodity loans and there’s a good chance we’ll see more of those commodity loans.” Johnson recently served three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives.
