Ranking Republican on the House Agriculture Committee Bob Goodlatte of Virginia announced he will not run for re-election in 2018.

Goodlatte had served in the House since 1992 and is the current head of the Judiciary Committee, in addition to having previously served as Ag Committee Chair.

Goodlatte recently introduced a Guest Worker Bill which would replace the existing seasonal H2-A system. The bill passed the Judiciary Committee in late October, but has not been advanced to the full House.
