Veterinarian Linda Tikofsky with Boehringer-Ingelheim says choosing live or killed vaccinations for cattle depends on each farm’s situation. She says, “The choice of that vaccine for that farm largely depends on the challenges in their dairy, the management schemes that they have, their ability to handle cattle, preferences of their protocols that they’ve developed with their own veterinarian.”
Tikofsky says timing is everything, so vaccinating the dam when it helps both her and her future calf is important.
