Light to moderate direct cattle trade is underway, at least in the South. So far, sales are at $124 on the live basis, steady with Tuesday and down $1 from last week’s weighted average. There’s been no appreciable business in the North, yet. Asking prices at the major direct markets are $125 on the live basis and $196 for dressed with bids at $122 to $124 live.
Boxed beef at midday was higher on light to moderate movement.
