A corn specialist with Purdue University says yields during harvest have been “surprisingly good” despite the challenging growing season.
Bob Nielsen says heavy rainfall early on that caused replanting and thin stands haven’t had a huge impact on yields. He says it’s a testament to how successful plant breeders have been in recent years.
“And not just improving yield potential but also the ability of these hybrids to tolerate stress,” he says.
