A northeast Indiana farmer says an already slow-moving harvest has come to a halt after seven inches of rain fell in three days.
Tom Griffiths says he hasn’t experienced this much water during harvest in his life.
“I only have five acres of soybeans left, I’m not too worried about those,” he said. “I have a lot of corn standing in water. If those stalks get saturated and soften up with water and we get some wind, things could be very bad.”
He tells Brownfield he had intentions of taking soil samples and applying fertilizer to prepare for the spring, but the fall weather has forced him to change his plans.
