“Pleasantly surprised” has been a familiar refrain across many parts of the Midwest this fall.
Doug Schurr is the general manager of the Farmers Coop Elevator in Craig, Iowa. That’s in northwest Iowa, one of driest areas of the Midwest for much of the summer.
“Just about everybody is pleasantly surprised,” Schurr says. “I would guess 195 to 200 probably is going to be the average, but there are numerous places where the corn is doing at least 230.
