More than 80 U.S. farm and livestock groups have asked President Trump to implement the 2016 Farmer Fair Practices rules, also known as the GIPSA rule, by executive order.
Led by National Farmers Union, the groups say the rule would give basic protections to family farmers and ranchers from “unfair and abusive” practices caused by “extremely consolidated” ag marketplaces.
U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue withdrew two of the three Farmer Fair Practices rules last month.
