A south-central Minnesota farmer says after a bleak start to harvest, conditions really improved.
John Luepke of Courtland tells Brownfield frequent rains and cool temperatures kept soybeans from drying down in early October.
“It looked pretty bad for awhile there because the beans weren’t drying out. Then finally when they did, (the soybeans) were at 13.3 percent moisture about one in the afternoon. by seven that evening (the moisture) was 10.6 percent.”
He says despite pockets of white mold, soybean yields were in the 60’s.
