The American Farm Bureau Federation and South Dakota Farm Bureau Federation want the Supreme Court to take up a case that could change the policy preventing states from collecting sales taxes from internet retailers. American Farm Bureau Vice President Scott VanderWal, who’s also the South Dakota Farm Bureau president, tells Brownfield it’s only fair that sales taxes be collected equally.
“To charge sales tax like that not only gives the small local retailers an even playing field tax-wise, but it also brings revenue to the state,” said VanderWal, in an interview with Brownfield Ag News Monday.
