Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue returned to Georgia to preside over the groundbreaking of what will be the largest poultry research facility in the U.S.
The former Georgia governor was in Athens Friday as the renovation of the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory begins.
“What I’ve come to learn is that inter-relationship between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and our land grant universities. That’s why we’re here today. These facilities are located in places like this.”
Replacing the more than 50 year-old facility on the University of Georgia campus has been in the works for a decade.
