The House Ways and Means Committee continues its work on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act this week in Washington.
South Dakota Congresswomen Kristi Noem, a Republican, says hundreds of hours have been spent on the reform bill to make sure it helps families, “I’m proud that this bill lowers rates for everyone, that it continues provisions like the mortgage interest rate deduction, that we took the child tax credit and expanded it into a family tax credit.” Noem says an analysis shows South Dakota families would receive as much as $4,000 in tax refunds under the measure, although the national average estimate is just under $1,200.
