90% of U.S. soybeans, 70% of corn harvested

The U.S. corn harvest surged last week, but remains slower than normal. Producers generally concentrated on getting soybeans out of the field first because of the better return on investment, comparatively stronger export demand, and greater potential impact of colder weather on yield.
As of Sunday, 70% of the U.S. corn crop is harvested, compared to 54% a week ago and the five year average of 83%.
90% of soybeans are harvested, compared to 92% a year ago and 91% on average.
