Jarod Weaver wrapped up corn harvest that was better than he expected. Weaver, who farms in Southeast Illinois, tells Brownfield he was not at all disappointed despite what he calls “a super-dry summer.”
“The yields are coming in a lot better than we ever anticipated,” Weaver told Brownfield Ag News. “We felt like the yield was a going to be off 30 to 40 percent, and I guess it’s the other way. It’s coming in 20 to 30 percent better than the normal average.”
On top of the dry spell, Weaver had to deal with disease issues that are common to that area.
