The USDA says domestic cheese production during September was 1.014 billion pounds. That’s up 2.7% on the year and the seventh month in a row above a billion. The only exception in 2017 was February, likely because of fewer working days, and this year is 2.6% ahead of this point last year. Production in 2016 topped a billion every month except for February, June, and September. Milk production this year has been running at very high levels for most of the year and while export demand has been slow for U.S.
