Food Policy Action says the current Congress hasn’t had much of a legislative food policy record this past year.
The group evaluates how lawmakers vote on food policy through its annual scorecard. Food Policy Action Co-Founder Tom Colicchio told reporters Wednesday food shouldn’t be political and the scorecard highlights how lawmakers are impacting the food system. “Good food policy does touch on the top four things that people care about when they go to choose a leader: the economy, national security, the environment and health care.”
The group says because a new administration took office this year there was less legislation to evaluate and expects the 2018 Farm Bill to provide a better outlook on the importance of food policy in Washington.
