High winds in late October caused cornstalk breakage and ear loss in parts of the Midwest.
York County, Nebraska Extension Educator Jenny Rees says yield losses are running from 20 to 70 bushels per acre in some areas of southern Nebraska.
Mark Jagels, who farms near Davenport in southeast Nebraska, says he experienced some ear loss.
“I had a couple quarters of yellow corn that were down some and had some ears on the ground,” Jagels says.
