At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed higher on expectation of higher cash trade and the strong wholesale values yesterday and at midday. The recent gains are attracting speculative money and adding volatility to the market. December live cattle closed 4.92 higher at $126.60 a February live cattle closed $.50 higher at $130.05. November feeder cattle closed $.27 higher at $159.90 and January feeder cattle closed $1.07 higher at $160.65.
Direct cash cattle trade remains at a standstill with bids and asking prices still not fully established.
