Nebraska farmers made good progress last week on their corn and soybean harvests. As of Sunday, corn harvest stood at 45 percent, still well behind the 67 percent five-year average, while soybean harvest reached 89 percent, near the 93 average.
Winter wheat rated 55 percent good to excellent and 33 percent fair.
Complicating this year’s corn harvest even more has been the high winds of late, leading to cornstalk breakage and ear loss.
