Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says it’s too early to draw conclusions about Sam Clovis, the nominee for USDA chief scientist, amid media reports that Clovis urged a Trump campaign volunteer to meet with Russian officials, “If you look at just his qualification for the job, nothing – there’s no question about this person’s ability to lead a big organization because he’s done it so many times throughout his life.” Clovis was a Trump campaign supervisor and that volunteer foreign policy advisor was George Papadopoulos, who has pleaded guilty to lying to federal authorities.
