
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) says export conditions are good, but there are questions about how President Trump’s trade agenda will affect meat export strategy. Federation Senior Vice President Thad Lively says USMEF members are worried by Trump administration talk of pulling out of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
“How can we plan for that,” said Lively, in comments provided by the USMEF, “is there a way we can get our message across to the administration better, that this would be really damaging to our interests?”
Lively says the USMEF continues to push for an alternative to the Trans Pacific Partnership, from which the administration pulled out shortly after taking office.
