The Illinois Farm Bureau has asked Governor Bruce Rauner to declare a Harvest Season Emergency because of the late harvest. Manager DeAnne Bloomberg tells Brownfield the Rock Island County Farm Bureau requested the action because harvest, especially in that area, is behind. If the governor makes the declaration, road jurisdictions can issue permits for farmers to haul up to 10 percent more than vehicle and axle weight limits. Legislation allowing the governor to declare such an emergency was signed at the Illinois State Fair.
