Fall-applied nitrogen can provide several benefits – both financially and operationally.
But applying now does include increased risk for potential nitrogen loss. Greg Schwab, director of agronomy with Koch Agronomic Services says applying fertilizer in the fall can leave it vulnerable to loss from fluctuating weather conditions and it’s important for farmers to protect their investment.
