The U.S. Senate has confirmed Nebraska ag director Greg Ibach as the new undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs at USDA.
Ibach is expected to be sworn-in in the coming days.
The confirmation vote on another USDA undersecretary nominee, Iowa ag secretary Bill Northey, is apparently still in limbo. Political news service Politico reported earlier today that Northey’s confirmation vote was being held up by Texas Senator Ted Cruz in “reaction” to how Iowa senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst pressured the EPA to abandon changes to the Renewable Fuel Standard.
