House Ag Chairman says Farm Bill is still on target for completion
The Chairman of the House Ag Committee says they’re still on target to complete a Farm Bill ahead of schedule.
Congressman Mike Conaway says a bill should be ready by the end of this year or early 2018. “A question mark that has been eliminated is the mandatory spending cuts that were in the House version,” he says. “Those have gone away now for the time being so we’ll be able to move forward with the Farm Bill without having to take into consideration what we might or might have had to do with respect to that issue – so another question answered in moving forward.”
He says while Congressional members who represent Rural America have a specific interest in getting a Farm Bill completed, all members of Congress should have an interest in sound agricultural policy.
