New York City Mayer Bill de Blasio and the head of that city’s public schools say 15 Brooklyn schools will participate in Meatless Mondays next spring. It means all participating schools will serve vegetarian breakfasts and lunches every Monday.
The city’s official website includes supportive comments about healthy diets and a stronger planet resulting from the announcement. Those offering support for the move include Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society of the United States.
