Direct cash cattle markets are quiet, with widespread business not expected until at least after Wednesday’s Fed Cattle Exchange activity. Asking prices are not defined outside of a few in the South at $115 on the live basis and packer inquiry is pretty much non-existent at this point. If the futures can hold onto their gains, that may whet packer appetites at least somewhat. This week’s showlist generally looks smaller than last week.
