A former president of the Iowa Farm Bureau and Iowa Board of Regents, Craig Lang, plans to run for Iowa agriculture secretary in 2018.
According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Lang has filed paperwork to begin fundraising, but will wait to formally announce his campaign until current ag secretary Bill Northey’s nomination to be an undersecretary at the USDA is approved by the U.S. Senate. Once that happens, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds will appoint someone to fill the position until a new secretary is elected in 2018.
