At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed sharply higher following yesterday’s Cold Storage report and speculative buying interest. The strong move in wholesale values at the midday was also supportive of today’s big gains. October live cattle closed $2.10 higher at $113.62 and December live cattle closed $2.77 higher at $119.52. October feeder cattle closed $1.50 at $155.12 and November feeder closed $3.40 higher at $156.12.
Direct cash cattle trade remains at a standstill with bids and asking prices few and far between.
