The USDA says there was less red meat in cold storage at the end of September 2017 than there was at the end of September 2016.
However, supplies were up on the month and the year ago totals for red meat and beef were new record highs, so it looks like demand isn’t totally enough to blunt the impact of the record or near record production levels we’ve seen for most of this year.
