A complete week of warm and dry weather helped Indiana farmers make progress with the harvest. The USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service reporters say the soybean harvest jumped ahead of the five-year average, but corn harvesting is behind schedule.
In central and northern Indiana, more than 72% of the soybeans are harvested, but only 59% of the beans are in down south.
The corn for grain is 38% harvested in the north where field activity was mostly focused on soybeans.
