The USDA’s latest cattle on feed report shows a continued aggressive placement of cattle during the month of September.
A livestock market analyst says the increased placements do imply additional pressure on prices – but there was some positive news out of Friday’s report.
University of Missouri’s Scott Brown says heifer inventory is up 13 percent relative to a year ago. “While steer inventory is only up 1.6 percent,” he says.
