The two largest farm groups in the U.S. differ on the Ag Secretary’s withdrawal of the “GIPSA” rule, named the Farmer Fair Practices rule, but both say the USDA must continue working on more fairness for farmers and ranchers.
American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall says the livestock portion of the rule would have “disrupted key marketing arrangements” in that sector. He says AFBF does support a do-over so the USDA can work on poultry fair practice issues.
