An agronomist is encouraging growers frustrated by wet harvest conditions to exercise patience.
Dan Koehler with Dekalb/Asgrow covers south-central Minnesota, one of many areas lagging behind the average harvest pace.
He says while it might be tempting to rush back into the field once weather improves, harvesting wet soybeans is a bad idea.
“Because you get docked at the elevator, (which) is the biggest thing. (soybeans) just can’t go until they can go.”
Koehler tells Brownfield another consideration is running equipment over muddy ground, potentially impacting crops for years to come.
